Storytelling is SoulWork

For much of my life I acted as if I had no story to tell.       Instead, in those casual social moments when my peers were swapping colorful stories about the exploits and adventures of their youth I relied on my repertoire of comebacks, remarks and obfuscations that allowed me to participate without revealing real details of my life.  I felt compelled to deny my experience and keep my story to myself out of shame and embarrassment about the alcoholism that shaped my family story.

Little did I know that my voluntary secrecy would fuel a future passion for telling the stories we often seek to hide. Furthermore, I was clueless that my own well-being would one day require that I be able to tell my story despite any residual feelings of anger, guilt or shame.

Join me in an ongoing conversation about my journey as a storyteller and I will tell you about these things and more.
