For millions of years, men have gathered in a spirit way to embrace the initiation of their lives from birth to death; to bless the life each man has, and to affirm his own
way. We have nourished our souls, hearts and dreams in these circles for a long and ancient time. Deep down, men know the ways of human nature: compassion
for self and others, peace, and, stewardship. The old way of connecting, being inquisitive of the inner and outer worlds together, is often the way for a man to know himself as a blooming force in the world.
It is a challenging time on earth. Humanity is being rendered to the core questions of: Are we going to survive as a species? How can we live and not destroy
the earth, each other, the very garden that takes care of us? How does my love of life nourish my family and community? How do I allow my vision and enjoy my way
down lifeıs paths?
The Michigan Menıs Spirit Camp is an invitation to gather together and inquire into manhoodıs great mysteries for insight, support, healing, rest and enjoyment. Young Men and Elders are especially encouraged to come. We need your energy and wisdom. All spiritual beliefs are welcome.
We will share a sacred sweat lodge to connect to our deep souls and ground into our ancestral wisdom. You will have the opportunity to share your own story in a
small group; to generate personal and group ritual expressions; to rest and play; and to drum and dance in celebration, grieving, healing and transformation. Each man chooses to participate (or not) and to witness in his own way and time.
The Spirit Camp will begin at 5pm Friday and end 2pm Sunday at the same beautiful 80 acre wooded site as last year, near Clare, Michigan. A map and instructions will be sent to you. We will camp in the woods by a private lake. A sliding scale fee ($150 to $295) is collected to cover expenses. A limited number of barter positions are available.

An Opening
Middle of the night
Half moon on equinox
Pine needles drip
Wet beneath my feet
An all day rain
Mist hangs close
I pee outside the tent
Hearing soft sounds
Of men sleeping.
